There’s no denying it — change is exciting.

Back in late 2008, I launched the last version of this site (before this one), as an established freelance designer hoping to get a little more exposure and expand my client base in a few new directions.

The response has been overwhelmingly positive. Since that time, Digitalmash.com v.4 has had over 2 million visitors, and has lead to many opportunities and some awesome projects. The latest of which has me on a mission for world domination with my HiiDef Inc. dot-comrades.

Shifting focus

Digitalmash.com has finally taken on a shape that better reflects my personal design tastes.

So with a move away from freelance work, I guess you could say this site’s objectives have shifted a little too. Thus, Digitalmash.com has finally taken on a shape that better reflects my personal design tastes. (I also hope the more minimalist style will mean I’ll be getting fewer emails telling me how my site’s been ripped).

Along with putting the site on a visual ‘diet’ I’ve also taken a more minimalist approach to its content. The work section is slimmed right down and the contact and client areas have disappeared. Perhaps most the notable change is the loss of a comments section in the journal. Why? Well these days the stream of comments following a post seem to feel more like random noise than any sort of dialogue. I mean, when was the last time you read all the prior comments before posting your own? If people have something they want to say, they can get at me on twitter, write to me or, even better, drop all their ‘mind-grapes’ with a response on their own blog. Don’t get the wrong idea — I want to hear from you!

So there you have it. Hope you like the change. I know I’ve said this before, but I really plan on being more consistent with writing in the journal. I’ve slimmed down the process of writing too (thanks partly to an upgrade to Expression Engine 2), so it should be even easier to bash out articles when I’ve got the time.

Anyhoo, enjoy the new site. Let me know what you think.

Over and out.
