My old site got ripped quite a bit, but I think this has to be some sort of record. In the past I’ve had people reuse actual images from my site, so I guess I should be glad that it’s not quite so blatant. But I’m sure you’ll agree it’s no coincidence. I guess writing an article on the growing scourge of incestuous design was asking for it. Irony at its best.
I don’t know why it gets me so annoyed. I guess because I spent a fair bit of time getting this site just how I wanted it and put a lot of thought into various things. While some people might say I should be flattered, I find it pretty disrespectful to me as a designer to just take those ideas verbatim. What’s worse is this guy calls himself a web designer, so he’s not just someone suffering from a lack of insight — he’s fully aware of what he’s doing!
What’s really funny is there are all sorts of random classes in the site’s CSS that’s been left in there. It’s an absolute cut and paste job.
Well, after contacting the owner and asking him to change it, there’s not much else I can do. But please, if you feel the urge and want to stand up against this sort of thing, you can send an email for being so unoriginal.
Alternatively you can just leave a message on his blog at amypink.com. And yes, that’s right, he’s taken the comment style for good measure too.
Look familiar?
Well it looks as though the offending site has been taken down. Victory!! Thanks to everyone who sent emails. See? The system works. ;)
